PURPOSE
Project GRAD’s mission is to improve lives in low-income communities by helping students develop and achieve their educational aspirations. The Scholarship Manager is an essential member of the Project GRAD team who:
- Manages the Project GRAD Houston Scholarship Department, ensuring excellent customer service and efficient, accurate administration of the Project GRAD Scholarship and
- Manages the administration of the GEAR Up Scholarship Trust to ensure funds are equitably distributed to eligible students through outreach and counseling.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
- Direct, coordinate, support, and evaluate the work of the GRAD Scholarship team
- Review and revise systems for administration of Project GRAD Scholarship in concert with GEAR UP Scholarship Trust
- Partner with Director of College Access and Success to monitor and report on Scholar access to financial aid and counseling regarding student debt
- Manage administration of the GEAR UP Scholarship Trust, including:
communications and outreach to GEAR Up students, data collection and reporting, scholarship calculation, loan payment counseling, and Advisory Task Force engagement - Attend public meetings to promote knowledge of the GEAR UP Scholarship Trust
- Support coordination across GRAD departments for seamless communication with Scholars
- Other duties as assigned to support Project GRAD programs
PRIMARY CONTACTS
- Report regularly to Project GRAD’s Vice President & Chief Strategy Officer
- Coordinate scholarship payments with Treasurer & Chief Financial Officer
- Oversee work of Administrative Assistants and work study students
- Collaborate with Director of College Access and Success to ensure seamless communication with Scholars and to improve financial counseling
EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of three years of supervisory experience
- Experience college access and financial aid counseling
- Familiarity with institutions of higher education, especially those in the Houston area
- Familiarity with Project GRAD neighborhoods or similar communities preferred
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree required

- Excellent management skills and the ability to create a high-performing and engaged team
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Salesforce
- Valid Texas Drivers License, proof of liability insurance, ability to travel to meeting locations
- Spanish language skills preferred
