(HOUSTON ) - Ten members of the Houston community have been recognized as winners of the NFL Community Quarterback Award competition, the Houston Texans Foundation announced on December 1, 2004. The NFL Community Quarterback Award recognizes outstanding volunteers in the 32 NFL markets and awards nearly $1 million to the charitable organizations they serve. This program honors individuals who exemplify leadership, dedication, and a commitment to improving the communities in which they live in through volunteerism.

The Houston Texans Foundation hosted and recognized its 10 outstanding community service volunteers at a dinner on Tuesday, December 7, at 6 p.m. at The Junior League of Houston. Each of the 10 winners received $1,000 for their organization. The overall winner will receive a $10,000 donation for the organization to which they serve and the opportunity to compete with 31 other national finalists for the National NFL Quarterback Award. The national winner will receive an additional $25,000 donation for their non-profit organization.
