Mentoring 101 Training Sessions

Project GRAD Houston (Graduation Really Achieves Dreams) is a private, nonprofit, pre-K through 12 education reform organization that works to increase graduation and college attendance rates for children in economically challenged communities. It serves over 49,000 students and 3,000 teachers in 71 HISD schools in five high-school feeder patterns: Davis, Houston, Reagan, Wheatley, and Yates.

Now the nationally recognized program needs volunteers to act as mentors to Houston's young people. If you've been looking for a way to get involved in public education, specifically by encouraging students to finish school and helping them with their future education and career goals, then now's your chance.

Volunteers can learn the different roles and expectations of being a mentor during any of the four one-day "Mentoring 101" training sessions that will take place at Project GRAD-Houston headquarters, located at 6700 West Loop South, Fifth Floor, Bellaire, Texas 77401. Sessions run from 9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m., and training dates will be February 12, March 5, April 9, and April 30 (all Saturdays).

Please make sure to bring a valid drivers license to the training. A Project GRAD Houston staff member will arrange to take a photo copy of your identification to HISD for your mandatory background check.
