1010 AM La Tremenda KLAT Houston (Univision Radio) interviewed Project GRAD Houston’s Manager of Special Projects Javier Parra and Principal Liaison Miriam Medina on Project GRAD Houston in Spanish this morning from 9:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m. The 2-hour interview on “La Voz Del Pueblo” with talk show host Renzo Heredia interspersed commercial breaks with calls from listeners. One of the many callers, a Project GRAD Reagan parent, plugged the Scholarship Program, the Walk for Success, and the great time his son experienced at the Project GRAD Summer Institute. The successful interview with Javier and Miriam targets Hispanic listeners from the ages 18 thru 64 in the Houston area. |

On Saturday, October 2, 2004 at 9:30 a.m. CH 45’s (Univision) Nuestra Vida, a public community affairs program in Spanish with Beatriz De Alvarado as the host, will feature a pre-taped interview with Project GRAD Staff Member Miriam Medina and Davis High School Student Esmeralda Serna on an overview of the Project GRAD Houston Program and the upcoming Walk for Success. The focus of Nuestra Vida is to cover topics of interest to Houston’s Hispanic community, such as public events, the arts, education, and politics. |

CNN Business News Highlights Project GRAD Houston
CNN Business News Anchor Fred Katayama featured the Project GRAD model on July 1, 2004. Katayama’s CNN Business Report highlighted Project GRAD as one of the most ambitious school reform programs backed by big business to get students at disadvantaged schools to graduate from high school and college. Ten years after Project GRAD Houston hooked up with Davis High School in Houston, the school’s rate of college-bound students more than tripled to 36%. The widespread success of the Project GRAD Program now serves 133,000 students in more than 217 schools nationwide. |
