The Treasure Hunt

Classroom Time: 1.5 hours plus project completed at home

Purpose: Learn map reading skills including measurement, usefulness of map key and the creation of a three dimensional map that accurate portrays the student’s or the school neighborhood.

Skills Addressed:
Social Studies skill: Using maps, spatial organization, and mental maps
Visual Arts Skill: Techniques to communicate ideas

Supplies: Paper, pencil, map (state, city, local area, etc), handouts, and internet connection, Optional: clip art for treasure map, and items for students to use on their 3D map
