Information about the Image:

Liu Ren uses memories from her childhood and teenage years to construct colorful landscapes to escape reality.

Liu Ren was born in 1980 in Hebel Province, China. She received a M.A. in Photography and Digital Media, Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA), Beijing, China. Liu Ren lives in Beijing, China. She participated in FOTOFEST2008 – CHINA at Rice Media Center, Rice University.

Objectives:

• Strengthen writing and visual literacy skills through the interpretation of a photographic image.
• Develop investigative strategies to write a multi-paragraph descriptive composition by collecting information, acquiring data, and seeking out visual sources.
• Develop visual literacy skills through reading photographic images using the “Four Step Process.”
• Build analytical skills by combining visual analysis with depth of expression in writing.
• Improve quality of writing skills through editing and refining compositions.
